Greymouth Monday 26 January

Here we go! (as always..)

Pic of one of the MagicBuses

Another early start (as always..), and now where heading down the westcoast, towards Greymouth.

Pics from somewhere on the westcoast, between Nelson and Greymouth.

On the way we're making a few stops, the first one at Cape Foulwind where we took a 45min walk along the shore - B E A utiful! (as always..)

I spent most part of the walk talking to Andy's father (you know, Andy, my driver) who accompanied his son around the South Island - he told me a lot about the area and the history about the place, named by Captain Cook in 1770 after his ship Endeavour was blown quite a distance offshore from this point, so mr Cook thought the winds around this cape was far to awful, that he named it Cape Foulwind right then and there. Cape Foulwind is also knowned for having NZ's closest tavern/pub to Australia (the Star Tavern).
On our walk we passed by Tauranga Bay - home to a fairly large colony of fur seals - so cute!!
Enjoy the view(s)!

Me with Andy on the right and his father on the left =)

The next stop was Punakaiki Pancake Rocks - and these rocks sure do look like a lot of pancakes stacked on top of each other =)

And before long, we were all of a sudden in Greymouth - and it's name sure is as dull as the town, I mean come on! The river's name is Grey, and the town at the mouth of the river is Greymouth... What a vivid imagination!

There's really nothing to do here - okey it might have something to do with the fact that we arrived after closing time for all the stores (except the warehouse where I could get hold of a new 4GB memory card - finally!!), and it was pouring down grey rain....

But the very best part was super duper great!!! I got my own room!!!! (Neptunes International Backpackers) Well, it was a three share room, but I was the only one there - so of course I took the double bed (da! what d'ya think?!) =D happy happy happy!!! I loved Neptunes!! It's really a shame that it's not located somewhere else - 'cause you really don't want to spend more than a night in Greymouth, but you sure want to stay forever at Neptunes... which causes a conflict...
I soon made a small mess in my room too - but it was okey, 'cause it was MY room! yippie! I slept so good that night that you wouldn't even imagine!!

Although before going to sleep I went to the Railway Hotel for an all-you-can-eat-BBQ for 6 dollars. It was mainly just us MagicBussers there, and at eight we went home and turned in for the night...
zzzzzz........
