especially now when I noticed that I've not taken any photos during week 3 - only friday-saturday-sunday =D So yeah, I guess it's easy to see when the action takes places - but don't be mislead by me, there's heaps going on during the weeks, although I was too busy this week...
Monday:
Hairdresser!
my hair was a completely mess - and when mamy's not around, a girl has to satisfy with the next best - the schools hairdresser who's name I've forgotten =) He was alright, but mum - you're the pro, that's for sure...! He didn't really know how to comb my hair (aie...), and a lot of extra stuff that I haven't actually taken notice of before when I've been in mum's salong, but I suddenly missed them...
But yeah, my hair got trimmed just as much as I requested, so that was perfect! =)
And the rest of the evening, after spending some time by the pool, was dedicated to try and finish my examination assignment for Gothenburg Uni, that had been sadly neglected for way too long... It wasn't possible to get it done when I was travelling - and well, as you've seen, I've had my hands full ever since I moved in on IH..!
So now was the time to get this over and done with!
Tuesday - continue with gothenburg assignment
Wednesday - work 11-16 at BotH, and watch Madagascar 2 that evening =D
Thursday - freaking out about Easter Holidays - where should I go?!?!?!
Spent a fair amount of time at STA Travel on campus to get some advice - which left me even more confused and stressed... So on the shuttel bus to Jesmond (Peter's still tha' man drivin' the wheels!) that night, Katie gave me some real advice - "Let it go, don't think about it until Saturday, that way your brain gets some time off" - and it worked perfectly!
Friday - tjoho! Assignment 1 done! (just one more to go..)
This afternoon we went to the beach =)
We were supposed to go to the beach, but around 1pm we realised we wouldn't be down there until at least 3... so we cancelled and decided to go to the pool instead.
IH/South Pool - closed due to cleaning (lots of stuff in there you don't want to know of that had to be cleaned out, and lots of stuff in there you don't want to touch to make it clean)
Teds/North Pool - closed due to vandalism... I'm not a fan of public punishment...
----
So we resigned, went to Wade and Pru and begged them to drive us to the beach (bus would take forever at this point...) - turned out they didn't need that much begging - they jumped out the sofa and into the car! Whieha!!
We played for about one and a half hour in the water with a ball - soo much fun! We even had a little bit too much fun... The waves are quite big down here, and my upper bikini part is not that steady... Thank god the lower piece staid on tight at least =D could've given the guys an embolism (judging on their reactions to some exposed chest)...
Later that evening we headed out to the Keg Party in Jesmond! Whoho!
For those of you, including past me, who doesn't know what a keg is; It's the big "barrel" (sw. tunna) that you keep beer in. So a keg party is a party where they've brought in some kegs =) And there was a shisha - waterpipe! Man! That was a long time ago - Lisa, Emma!! Where are you - come here!!
this party also had a lube...
- and this would be a small pool with lube (and maybe water)
The idea is for people to strip down into their underwear and wrestle =)
Now what is lube? It's short for lubricant (spelling? so sue me..) - and you have to figure that one out for yourself, it's not something for older relatives/grandparents to read about here though.
Here comes some pics and a film from the partayy;
(we ended up tossing each other in clothes or no clothes =) and then the wet people gently hugged the dry people)
On the way home (after five wet hugs, some relieving behind a bush, and food from Hungry Jacks (their version of Burger King, 'cause one guy down south had already named his little hamburger place Burger King, so when the giant chain came to Australia, they had to come up with a new name)), we spied on a possum.
Saturday! Surfday!
Oh yeah baby - here we go!! Surfing yay!!
Had a lesson with SurfSchool at 11-13
Man that's hard!
Me, Trent, Daniel & Edwin
(we're missing Dan and Brian - they got a bit lost and came a couple of minutes later)
An optimistique gang heading out to conquer the waves!!
more pics will come - there just not on my camera right now...
Anyway, I did tell you that the waves are pretty big aye?
Hehe - today it was unbelievable - some smaller waves followed by huge monsters!! =D And since we're.. well, maybe stupid.. we were waiting for the bigger waves before we took our stand and - got lost in a swirlwind of salt, water and more salt... The guys did better than me, I have to give them that - but I did manage to stand up once, for one second or something =) But it was a proud second!
Otherwise I just got smacked in the head with the board one too many times.. aie..
- or swallowed whole by the sea.. phiu..
- or got my leg stuck in the safety line just when the waves pushed the board away (taking my leg with it..)
- or scraped my knees trying to stand up
- or got my leg AND an arm stuck in the board line (taking the entire me down and under...)
so I finally figured out why they call this place Down Under - 'cause there's where you'll end up!
(take a deep breath, and blow out through your nose!)
You might think I had a terrible time - but no ! It was soo much fun!!
I don't think I'll pay for another lesson, but I'm bound to find someone with a board here on campus, so next time we're on the beach I'll try and make it another go! (or get a cheap bodyboard and just splash and bob around in the shallow water)
So after surfing, we found our true calling!
Sand modelling!!
Penis Edwin!
(do I have to clearify that it was the boys' idea?)
Then we played around in the waves for about an hour (or a half - my head was still a bit knocked off..) =)
I love beach life!!!
(and yes - suncream's on!)
Here're some pics of Newcastle, walking back from Nobbys'
(the area I never found with mum and dad)
Saturday afternoon - Battle of the Blocks!!
Every block's fighting to get as many points as possible, among the "sports" we competed in, you'll find egg throwing, dodge ball, rope pulling and three legged run displayed here:
Sunday - Wine day!!
Took a wine tour in the wine district Hunter Valley with Katie and Trent
First we went to Vinden Estate, and tried approx. 6 wines
That's what we looked like after Vinden =)
and don't get me wrong - wine tasting here is not like in France!
First of all, a glass of wine in France (Sweden, England - Europe basically), is not that much - a glass of wine in Oz is like two european glasses... So a taste of wine in Oz is double the amount you get to taste back at home..!
Next place - don't remember the name..
tried some seven different wines
Don't we look a little bit happier now?? =)
Okey, third place!
Here we're in the cellar trying out so many drinks we couldn't count them all - nine?? no, there was more right??
We didn't just try wine here - no no, they gave us liqueur, baileys and the devils schnapps!
The schnapps burns for at least fifteen minutes (15!) - and by burns I mean BURNS!
jävlar säger ja bara...
chilli me here, chilli me there - chilli frickin everywhere!!
...........
Luckily we had lunch straight afterwards =)
Unluckily for me, I had ordered a small portion of chips with pepper sause
- the portion was huge
- the pepper sause combined with the rests of the chilli wasn't successful...
HOW do a person finish this giant serve of giant chips?!?!
(seriously Trent, I need an answer...!)
could barely get them in my mouth..
And here we are - stomachs are full and we're getting more and more tipsy =)
The fourth vineyard I don't have any pictures from - didn't have the energy to take out the camera...
We voted unanimously to skip the fifth vineyard and headed straight to the chocolate shop, champagne boutique, and Smelly cheese factory!
Icecream and cheese - dessert for the dessert!!
I'm soo happy =)
So in total, with the two different types of champagne we tried, we had had around 33 drinks...
Not big drinks, but add them up and they fill a rather large bowl..
So after leaving the rest of the group at their hotels, we got an exclusive bus ride back to Newy!
